Wilderness Standard poodles provides LOVING GENTLE care to all dogs and puppies from day one-puppies are whelped in climate controlled quarters where moms and pups have isolated areas for snuggling, bathroom, eating and playtime.Moms and pups can be very smelly and I can not tolerate that smell in my house. They have fluffy straw that is safe and warm-changed regularly. I do not do the military Biosensor program (please refer to the following blog to totally debunk this myth)Bio-Sensor is Bad Science: True Biosensor as I do not breed aggressive dogs. I do not buy puppies that have had the true Biosensor program-holding 3 day old babies upside down and wrapping them in cold wet towels is not my idea of gentle puppy treatment. and I will not breed any outside females if they plan to use this outdated program on pups from my males. Some German Shepherd breeders who breed for aggression do use this program --it is not necessary for loving gentle poodles. I do not do any "forced learning" programs that are too advanced for helpless infants-pups are introduced to new things in the natural course of events when they are at a stage in their childhood where it WILL NOT OVER STRESS THE IMMATURE PSYCHE. The special mom and baby time is very precious and only lasts a short time-I honor and respect this for all my infants. Please remember that dogs give birth to helpless deaf and blind babies-they are meant to have totally undisturbed mother time to finish their development-this is not the time to subject them to treatment they are totally not ready for. Actually the so called biosensor stimulation treatment has evolved to nothing more than "puppy play"-not many actually wrap them in cold wet towels and hold them upside down and pinch the toes-gentler for the poor puppy but not truly an exercise in anything more than a marketing gimmick. My pups are handled gently from baby hood for necessary examination, toenail cutting, bathing if necessary and de worming.Puppies are not toys-they are handled at all times with adulthood in mind to produce a young thing that is ready to face the world with the belief that people are good and kind.Puppy areas are cleaned several times each day.Moms receive wholesome fresh food to their liking 2 to 3 times daily with clean water always available. We have been AKC inspected and approved and also inspected by the county animal control and passed with no suggestions. My vet of 20 plus years is a personal friend and is available for advice 24/7.At 2 or 3 weeks of age the pups begin to venture out of the nest and become aware of the outside world. This is the time I like to begin to teach them the world is a good place and people are kind and gentle.I like to feed them with a tiny spoon to get them used to having their faces and mouths manipulated for many things to come in life involving the face and mouth. I hold them on their backs and clip toenails and manipulate the feet and body parts-they are now ready to learn and are not stressed out.The reward of tasty food coming in helps too !! Soon they come running when they hear me and become attached to the routine of humans and generalized handling. All puppies begin vaccination protocol at 6 weeks and receive DAPP also at 9 and 12 weeks. My vet personally examines each pup at 6 weeks of age-any abnormalities or concerns are addressed-pups that are not totally presentable are held back or described as such to potential buyers.I do not pretend that all my pups are perfect in every way and I do not price them the same-Puppies begin crate and leash training as young as 6 weeks.Puppies that do not sell as youngsters continue their education on the leash and attending training classes until sold or finished their show career and retired. We also have an agility course where dogs can learn other skills that help to make life interesting and enjoyable for them.Indoor play areas are also available for bad weather days.(Desdemona here is trying to decide if she really wants to do the weave poles--)
SEPARATION ANXIETY--PUPPIES HAVE A HARD TIME OF IT BEING SEPARATED FROM MOM AND THE SIBLINGS-I like to start separating them any time after 6 weeks-an hour a day in a crate by themselves for "screaming time"-then back with the family-usually by then the mom has gotten sick of them and is gone so it is just the littermates they miss. Then they go back with the group for the night.More separation the next day and back with the family. This helps them to realize being alone is ok and they will have their friends in a little while. This helps the puppy experience some stress and learn to deal with it a little at a time so as to be able to handle being alone later on.Puppies being shipped have to be able to be alone for many hours before they are going to be able to handle the time of shipping.I try to totally prepare them for this by the time they go.
Please note-this is not about "selling puppies"-it is a testimonial to the great life I have had with poodles.I have been privileged to own some very outstanding dogs as evidenced by their show ring achievements, testing results and happy homes enjoyed around the country. There is no hurry for me to "get them sold"-the thrill of evaluating each little soul as it develops and grows is so meaningful and enjoyable--finding the right home for each pup as I realize his true personality and foibles is the joy of my life-call me and we can see if I have the right little soul for you.If I don't truly think it is the right pup for you and your life style I will not give you " a line" but will honestly suggest something else.
Below are some great dogs I have bred and raised-loved them all
